Insurance for Fitness and Wellbeing Professionals

Depending on your requirements we have online application forms for general yoga, therapy, fitness and baby wearing activities and one specifically designed for First Aid Practitioners, Trainers and Health and Safety consultants. Please apply via the relevant ‘quotation request’ page on our website for your particular activity. Upon receipt of your application we will email a detailed quotation along with policy details to you as soon as possible.

No, our insurance is based on a Statement of Fact and declaration. This means that our policy is issued on the basis that the details you have declared to us and any assumptions we have made about you are accurate. If any of these details are incorrect then you must advise us immediately otherwise your policy may be invalid and the insurer may not pay any claims.

Our insurance is available to residents of the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. If you live elsewhere then our insurance is not suitable for you and you may need to arrange appropriate cover in your country of residence.

Our policy (unless otherwise amended by endorsement) covers you to teach/practice worldwide for temporary visits abroad, this includes teaching at retreats. Please note that any claim against you must be first filed in the UK.

Our insurance covers you as the instructor/therapist to teach in studios, gyms, parks, halls, schools, homes (including your own) etc. although you may wish to consider taking out additional cover for Premises Risk cover if you hold classes/sessions in your own home or rented premises that you are responsible for. Please see our ‘Services-What Types of Insurance We Arrange’ pages for additional information.

We accept payment via various methods including credit/debit card, PayPal, BACS transfer and cheque. We cannot, however, accept payment by instalments unless the insurance for a large studio/centre where the agreement to pay by instalments is made directly with the relevant insurance company. In these circumstances you will be advised of the availability of the instalment facility before purchasing the policy.

Unless specifically requested prior to payment for the policy, all policy documents will be sent to you via email to the address we hold on record for you.

Approximately one month prior to your policy renewal date we will email a renewal invitation to the email address we hold on record for you. We do not operate an automatic renewal system, or retain previous card payment details, so if you would like to renew your insurance we require a payment from you in accordance with the renewal invitation issued.

We do not operate an automatic renewal system so if you do not wish to renew then we just ask that you let us know so that we can update our records accordingly and not trouble you with a reminder. If you do not renew by the due date then we will automatically lapse your policy from the renewal date.

We can offer cover for a large number of activities (providing you are qualified to teach/practice them) and these can usually be added to an existing policy. Some activities will attract an additional premium and any mid-term amendment to your policy will result in an administration change.

Our policy automatically covers you to teach from home (for the malpractice and public liability cover in respect of your teaching) however you may need to consider whether you wish to extend your cover to include Public Liability in respect of the premises risk for your home. This extension protects your legal liability in respect of your ownership/occupancy of the premises should someone suffer an injury whilst visiting your home for business purposes e.g. trips on a loose/uneven flagstone or trips on a worn carpet etc.

Our insurance will automatically cover you to teach/treat children in so far as your training has qualified you to do so. Some activities carry specific endorsements relating to the teaching/treating of children and these are detailed in your insurance policy.

This is dependent on the activity/activities for which we insure you and the endorsements applying to your policy will specify if you need to obtain a medical history questionnaire.

No, there is no requirement for this under our policy however if you are in any doubt regarding the use of a disclaimer then you should seek professional legal advice.

Our Professional Liability policy does incorporate cover for legal expenses incurred with the insurer’s consent in defending a claim or proceedings against you under that policy. The additional Legal Expenses policy offers cover for defense against Criminal Prosecution, Tax Protection, Property Disputes and Data Protection as standard, with Contract Disputes cover also available as a further option.

Whilst our insurance provides you with temporary worldwide cover for the activities we insure you for as shown on your insurance certificate and schedule (e.g. yoga instructor), cover is NOT provided in respect of any additional activities or costs relating to a retreat such as travel or accommodation arrangements, cancellation costs, other activities etc.

Should you require additional cover for your retreat you will need to make separate insurance arrangements for this as we do not have a suitable product to provide this cover.

Whilst it’s not a specific requirement of our insurance that you hold a first aid qualification (except for First Aid practitioners), depending on the business activities you undertake it may be wise to obtain one. Some venues you may teach or practise in may require you to hold one.
